Michele Fry
Michele Fry, RYT 500, has been practicing yoga since 1994 and teaching since 2001, and holds a Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine. After many years in New York City and California, she has returned to her native Washington, DC, area and will begin a physical therapy degree program in 2012.
Michele’s teaching style draws on many different yoga and wisdom traditions including Viniyoga, Restorative & Yin, Anusara, Iyengar, Chinese Medicine, Buddhism, and Taoism. Her therapeutic classes draw on a strong background in anatomy and orthopedics, and clinical experience as an acupuncturist.
The heart of Michele’s teaching style is encouraging students to let go of dogma and become his/her own teacher through deep listening and attention to breath, alignment, biomechanics, and the entire sensory experience of practice. Philosophy, sutra, and poetry are often weaved in to assist mindfulness and intention. And her quirky humor brings lightheartedness to the class and reminds students to be kind to themselves. Students leave Michele’s class feeling calm, and centered.
